So far, 1999 is generally proving to be a positive year for overseas arrivals to the U.S., with a two percent increase compared to the same time frame in 1998. We do not have any data on Mexican travel to the U.S. but Canadian arrivals as reported by Statistics Canada were down by three percent, less than the first half of 1998 compared to 1997. Actually, the newest data just received from Canada indicates that through August, Canadian visitations to the U.S. was up nearly 2% for the year, meaning a strong summer business to give us a bounceback so far this year!
