In 1998 the United States hosted over 46 million international
visitors, a decline of 3%, primarily due to a substantial decline
in Canadian visitors and the first decrease in the overseas
regional markets since 1994. Overall, the U.S. represented a 7.3%
share of world arrivals and 16.2% of world receipts in 1998.
