JOB SUMMARY:

Help create opportunities for U.S. workers & firms, by promoting trade, opening foreign markets to ensure compliance with trade laws & agreements. Join our team to promote U.S. commercial interests & competitiveness of American industry at home & abroad. The full promotion potential for this position is GS-13. This position is located with the DAS for Services, Office of Travel and Tourism Industries, within Industry & Analysis. The incumbent will serve as primary liaison with the Foreign Commercial Service and Office of Domestic Operations, and be responsible for other communications outreach both within the U.S. Government and the travel and tourism industry.

MAJOR DUTIES:


At the full performance level, develops, implements and coordinates policy strategies and programs for the travel and tourism industries. Performs work in the following functional areas, e.g., trade analysis and policy; export development; information development and dissemination; industry liaison; and business advocacy. Recommends positions on complex policy issues. Represents the office at interagency planning meetings and industry working groups. Prepares position papers, briefings, speeches and reports. Responds to requests from U.S. businesses and industry groups on market conditions, trade and investment opportunities, and problems affecting export expansion for the travel and tourism industries. The incumbent will serve as the primary liaison for the Office of Travel and Tourism Industries with the Foreign Commercial Service offices and Office of Domestic Operations, handling requests, travel and tourism team calls and needs training and communications.
