Vacancy Announcement for a Market Research Analyst
The Office of Travel and Tourism Industries (OTTI), within the
Manufacturing and Services area of the International Trade Administration,
is delighted to announce the opening of a Market Research Analyst
position. A quality industry person is needed to ensure our office’s
ability to assist the industry. Research is a core function for
OTTI and it continues to gain in importance for our industry and
programs. The position is based in Washington, DC. It is offered
as one of four levels (GS-9/11/12/13), depending on the experience/qualifications
of the applicant. A GS-9 starts at $41,815, the GS-11 starts at
$50,593, the GS-12 starts at $60,638, and a GS-13 starts at $72,108.
DUTIES: At the full performance level the candidate
serves as the contract manager for OTTI’s I-92 Database, Statistics
Canada Program, Travel Receipts and Payments Data Program, Mexico
Data Program, and Official Airline Guide (OAG) Program. The I-92
is an international air traffic data program. The Canada program
involves reporting monthly Canadian travel flows and issuing an
annual report on Canadian travel to the United States. The Travel
Receipts and Payments program uses the Bureau of Economic Analysis
export and import data for travel and passenger fares as well as
other export/import data to report on the spending of international
travelers. The Mexico Data Program is a new cooperative effort with
the Bank of Mexico in which the analyst will work to report on travel
to and from Mexico based upon the Bank’s data. The OAG data
is flight schedule data that is used for the I-92 and In-Flight
Survey programs. Updating the OTTI website for each program is also
another major responsibility. Other duties will include working
with clients, both internal and external, developing and delivering
presentations, responding to international tourism related organization
data requests, and other duties as assigned.
