            Tourism: Putting the Pieces Together

This Federal strategy for tourism development, created by the TPC in 1994-95, set out a revised role for the Federal government in light of Vice President Gore's National Performance Review. The strategy represents the first time that tourism development has been looked at cohesively in all its aspects -- from research to product and infrastructure development to promotion to facilitation of travel. This strategy provided a basis from which the 1995 White House Conference on Travel and Tourism began discussion on a national tourism strategy for the country.
