Forecast for International Travel to the United States 2014-2019
On Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 3:00pm EST (12:00pm PST), the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) and the Commercial Service Travel & Tourism Team hosted a webinar on the new forecast for international travel and tourism. The focus of this webinar is NTTO's 6-year Travel Forecast for International Travel to the United States developed for 2014-2019. The Forecast for International Travel is prepared by NTTO staff using economic/demographic/social factors, Commerce historical visitation trends, and other numerous and varied sources. The Forecast is based on a country-level, bottom-up consensus approach for the top 20 visitor origin markets based on numerous quantitative data and qualitative information by the forecast team. These 20 markets account for 88 percent of total international arrivals. The November 20th recorded webinar provides participants with a better understanding of the Forecast for each of the top visitor origin markets, including the assumptions behind the forecasts and comparisons to others who also issue international traveler forecasts. Visa and Port of Entry Procedures
The U.S. Departments of Commerce, State, and Homeland Security held a joint webinar to promote the National Travel and Tourism Strategy on August 4th 2014 at 3:00pm EST (12:00pm PST). The webinar provides information to leisure and business travel operators worldwide with information on U.S. visa and port of entry procedures, as well as data analysis on arrivals between visa and visa-waiver countries. The Department of Commerce hosted the webinar online. Subject matter experts from the Departments of State and Homeland Security were available to respond to questions about U.S. visa policy and port of entry procedures. Experts from the Department of Commerce were available to answer questions on data and forecast. For those organizations unable to participate in the live webinar, a recording of the teleconference is available beginning August 10th and remain available for a period of 360 days.
