First-Ever U.S. Golf Tourism Expo Seeking Participants
Beijing, Chengdu & Shanghai - September 12-19, 2010
The Commercial Service of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing is organizing the first-ever American Golf Tourism Expo in Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai this September. The program is designed to put your business in front of China’s leading golf travel buyers, high-end resorts and courses and selected golfers in Beijing, Chengdu, and Shanghai’s booming golf markets.
The U.S. Golf Tourism Expo is being developed in partnership with the China Golf Association and the China Golf Tourism Association. The Expo will promote outbound golf tourism from China, and showcase U.S. golf resources to this lucrative and rapidly growing market. An extensive media campaign will be part of the promotion and the event will be covered by the prestigious China Golf Magazine and the China 24-hour golf channel, along with other important sports and tourism media.
The United States is the #1 destination of choice for Chinese golfers. More than 5000 Chinese golfers come to the United States annually, staying an average of 8-12 days. They stay in five-star hotels or at golf resorts and villas, and spend an average of $1200 per day. According to KPMG’s 2008 Golf Benchmark Survey in China, the average price for a golf club membership in China is $53,000, but in some cities it climbs to more than $78,000 as it does in Shanghai. Weekend greens fees range from $50-$200. As a result, even with travel costs included, American golf resorts and courses at the highest price points still offer an extremely attractive destination for Chinese golfers.

Commercial Service Beijing is launching a Chinese-language U.S. Golf Tourism Directory to introduce U.S. golf tourism resources to the Chinese market. 3,000 copies will be printed and distributed at the U.S. Golf Tourism Expo in September 2010, as well as throughout China via additional channels. The Directory is expected to be a valuable guide for Chinese golf industry professionals and individual golfers both during and following the Expo. The Directory will have a wide-reaching audience, and will be viewed by U.S. Golf Tourism Expo attendees, Chinese golf industry associations, industry professionals, golf clubs and courses, and individual Chinese golfers. U.S. Commercial Service Beijing is launching a Chinese-language U.S. Golf Tourism Directory to introduce U.S. golf tourism resources to the Chinese market. 3,000 copies will be printed and distributed at the U.S. Golf Tourism Expo in September 2010, as well as throughout China via alternate channels. It is expected that the Directory to be a valuable guide for Chinese golf industry professionals and individual golfers both during and following the Expo. The Directory will have a wide reaching audience, and will be viewed by U.S. Golf Tourism Expo attendees, Chinese golf industry associations, industry professionals, golf clubs and courses, and individual Chinese golfers.
The U.S. Golf Tourism Expo Directory will be A4 size. U.S. Golf Tourism Expo participants and sponsors will each receive an initial page for free; additional pages can be purchased for $150 each. For those who are unable to participate in the Expo, full pages in the Directory can be purchased for $300, and half pages for $150 each. Prices are in Chinese currency due to currency fluctuations.
Additionally, currently offered are the following three prime advertising pages, with priority given to Expo participants:
